When the night falls silently,

the night falls silently on forests gleaming,

we wander out to see the bright stars gleaming.

But if we should lose our way,

the glowworms nightly with their tiny lantern’s ray will twinkle brightly.

Here and there and ev’rywhere, from mossy dell and hollow,

floating, gliding through the air,

they call on us to follow!

Shine, little glowworm, glimmer!

Lead us, if too far we wander,

love’s sweet voice is calling yonder!

Light the path, below, above,

and lead us on to love!
