She walks in beauty,

like the night of cloudless climes and starry skies,

and all that’s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes,

Thus mellowed to that tender light

That heav’n to day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace 

Which waves in ev’ry raven tress Or softly lightens o’er her face,

Where thoughts serenely sweet express

How sweet, and dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek and o’er that brow

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win ,the tints that glow,

A heart whose love is innocent.

她以絕美之姿走來，

好像無雲的夜空，繁星閃爍，

明與暗的最美的形相，凝聚於她的容顏和眼波，

融成一片淡雅的淸光

濃艷白天得不到的恩澤。

多一道陰影，少一縷光芒，

都會有損於這無名之美

美在她綹綹黑髮間飄蕩，也在她顏面上灑布柔輝，

愉悅的思想在那兒頌揚

這神聖寓所的純潔高貴。

在那臉頰上，在那眉宇間

安詳，和婉，富於情態，

迷人的笑容，照人的光彩，

一顆仁愛的芳心，淸白而又天眞。

她以絕美之姿走來，

好像夜空。
