Dans les chanquiers i’sont montés.

 

Bing sur la ring! Bang sur la ring!

Laissez passer les raftsmen,

Bing sur la ring Bang Bang!

 

Et par Bytown y sont passés

Avec leurs provisions achetées.

 

En canots d’écorc sont montés

Et du plaisir y sont donné.

 

Des ‘porc and beans’ils ont mangé 

pour les estomacs restauer.

 

Dans les chanquiers sont arrivés

Des manch’s de hache ont fabriqué.

 

Que l’Outaouais fut étoné

Tant faisait d’bruit leur hach’ trempée.

 

Quand le chanquier fut terminé

Chacun chez eux sont retourné.

 

Leurs femm’s ou blond’s ont embrassé

Tous très contents de se r’trouver.

With the provisions they bought.

 

In canoes of bark they’ve gone

And much pleasure they have had.

 

Pork and beans they’ve eaten 

to satisfy their stomachs.

 

In the camps they’ve arrived

And ax handles they have made.

 

The Outanouais were astonished 

so much noise their tempered axes made.

 

When the camping was finished

Each returned to their home.

 

Their wives and girlfriends were embraced,

All were very content to be reunited.
