Out of the bosom of the air,

Out of the cloudfolds of her garments shaken,

Over the woodlands brown and bare

Over the harvestfields forsaken,

Silent, and soft, and slow,descends the snow.

Even as our cloudy fancies take suddenly shape in some divine expression,

Even as the troubled heart doth make in the white countenance confession,

the troubled sky reveals the grief it feels,

This is the poem of the air,

Slowly in silence syllables recorded,

This is the secret of despair,

long in its cloudy bosom hoarded,

now whispered and revealed to wood and field,

Silent, and soft, and slow, descends the snow. 

 

掙脫開大氣的胸膛， 

從她層疊的雲裳裡搖落， 

在一片棕黃裸露的林地

在荒涼豐收後的田野上， 

靜靜的、柔軟的雪花緩緩地朝地面落下。

有如我們迷離的夢幻突然在莊嚴的字句裡成形， 

有如我們蒼白的容顏顯示了紛亂內心的衷情， 

紛亂的天空也表白它所感到的悲哀，

這是天空所寫的詩， 

慢慢寫在寂靜的音節裡，

這是絕望的秘密，

久久隱藏在陰霾的心底，

現在，對著樹林和田野，它在低訴和傾瀉，

靜靜的、柔軟的雪花緩緩地朝地面落下。
