Once I had a sweetheart but now I have none,

He’s gone and left me in sorrow to mourn.

Last night in sweet slumber I dreamed I did see,

My own dearest jewel sat smiling by me.

And when I awakened and found it not so,

My eyes, like some fountain with tears overflowed.

I’ll set sail for Dublin, for France and for Spain.

In hopes for to meet my dear jewel again.
