斯楚坡(Z. Randall Stroope, b.1953) 出生於新墨西哥州，科羅拉多州博爾德大學(University of Colorado Boulder) 碩士，亞利桑那州立大學(Arizona State University) 音樂藝術博士，主修合唱指揮，現為奧克拉荷馬州立大學(Oklahoma State University) 副教授。是美國非常活躍的合唱指揮、作曲家和講師，近幾年擔任歐洲兩個夏季音樂節的藝術總監。他的音樂作品超過125件以上，同時亦出版許多器樂作品。

本首歌詞出自聖經雅歌(舊約聖經詩歌智慧書的第五卷)，雅歌取自書中首句「所羅門的歌，是歌中的雅歌」，意即卓越絕倫的歌。多數研經學者均認為雅歌作者應為大衛的兒子所羅門王，其文筆高超，以柔情細緻的筆法，激發讀者感性上的強烈反應，同時揭示愛情絕妙之美與迷人之處，是神給世人最好的恩賜之一。
