In the bleak mid-winter frosty wind made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron,

Water like a stone;

Snow had fallen,

snow on snow,

In the bleak mid-winter,

long ago.

Our God,

Heav’n cannot hold him nor earth sustain:

Heav’n and earth shall away when he comes to reign:

In the bleak mid-winter a stable-place,

a place sufficed

The Lord God Almighty Jesus Christ.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,

Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;

But only his mother in her maiden bliss 

Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.

What can I give him,

poor as I am?

If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb,

If I were a wise man I would do,

would do my part;

Yet what I can I give him Give my heart.

 

蕭瑟嚴冬，寒風怒號，

地凍如鐵，

水凍如石；

雪已飄下，

風雪不停，

蕭瑟嚴冬，

久遠以前。

我們的神，

天無法留滯，地無法禁錮：

當祂掌權，天地皆廢：

蕭瑟嚴冬，一處馬槽，

如此棲身之所足以

救全能上帝，耶穌基督。

天使大天使齊聚歡聲，

智天使與熾天使翱翔；

唯獨聖母，得此恩福

敬拜聖嬰，親吻愛子。

貧乏如我，能拿什麼獻給祂呢？ 

我若是個牧人，我願獻上我的羔羊；

我若是個智者，我當獻所有，

奉獻我所擁有的；

但我所能獻呈，僅有我心。
