本曲係John Rutter接受英國劍橋大學國王學院合唱團委託而譜曲填詞之作品，是一首描寫聖經記載耶穌誕生在馬槽的奇蹟及東方三賢士前去朝拜的歌曲，其靈感來自於十五世紀的基督聖體頌歌（Corpus Christi Carol），於2012年首演。
 

作者John Rutter，1945年出生於英國倫敦，畢業於英國劍橋大學克萊爾學院，曾獲英國女王頒贈司令勳章，坎特伯里大主教亦贈予榮譽博士頭銜以表彰其在宗教音樂的傑出貢獻。其作品包含合唱音樂、交響樂以及器樂曲，1981年創立劍橋合唱團（the Cambridge Singers）迄今，擁有自己的錄音公司Collegium Records，並曾與多個國家的合唱團與交響樂團合作。
 

本曲從柔和的樂音開始，描述耶穌的誕生；中段則描寫人們對於耶穌誕生的敬畏之情，末段再以光明、激昂的音色展現人們歡欣之情。另亦有大鍵琴伴奏的版本。
